Summer Sculpt and Weld Workshop

Lisa Clague October 10th-17th

In this workshop we will explore the combination of metal and clay. Learning to incorporate the two and firing them together which brings spontaneity to the work. Having  the ability to weld your own forms you will no longer be limited to using found objects. You will learn the basics of Oxy and Acetylene (gas) welding as well as basic Mig welding. I will demonstrate the techniques I use to build a torso using my sculpture clay, paper clay and casting slip. I will also discuss surfaces, glazes and post fired finishes.

The workshop will be Monday the 10th through Monday the 17th, from 9:30am - 4:30. The studio is open all evening for work time. Sat. the 15th and Sun. the 16th there will be no formal instruction on these two days. You may want to plan a trip to Asheville to see galleries, visit studios in the area or work in the studio.

Please bring images of your work to share with us. Also your sketch book with your ideas  and thoughts about what you'd like to accomplish during the two weeks.
